Končar d.d. presented its portfolio at the international InnoTrans trade fair in Berlin through an advanced touchscreen application designed to consolidate all key business, product and technology information into a single interactive experience. Installed on a large capacitive touchscreen integrated into the exhibition stand, the application allowed visitors to explore content at their own pace without requiring assistance from staff. This approach significantly enhances the professionalism of the presentation, improves the accessibility of information and increases visitor engagement within the booth space.
Structured content organisation for intuitive navigation
The application is organised into four thematic sections, each representing a major area of Končar’s operations. Every section functions as an independent interactive module containing textual explanations, technical documentation, videos, photographs, infographics and animated elements. Navigation is based on clearly defined interactive controls, enabling smooth movement between modules. The user experience is designed with an emphasis on clarity, readability and intuitive flow, with all visual elements aligned to Končar’s brand guidelines.
3D vehicle showcase with full interactive control
One of the most compelling segments of the application is the real-time 3D showcase of Končar’s trains and trams. For this project, detailed three-dimensional models were developed and optimised for smooth interaction. Visitors can rotate models horizontally and vertically, zoom in to examine details, and activate interactive hotspots placed along key components. Each hotspot opens a dedicated information panel containing technical specifications, functional descriptions and insights into the application of individual components. This module makes it possible to present complex engineering systems in a visually engaging and easily understandable way for both expert and general audiences.
Multimedia modules for extended presentation content
Additional modules cover the broader aspects of Končar’s business, including history, reference projects, internal divisions and the development processes behind various systems. Each module contains videos, photography, technical diagrams and thoughtfully structured explanations. The application supports multiple languages, which is crucial in an international trade show environment, and presents content in a way that allows visitors to find relevant information quickly and seamlessly. The visual identity follows Končar’s brand throughout, with consistent typography, colours and graphic styling.
Technical implementation and hardware setup
The application is developed for the Windows platform and runs on a high-performance mini PC connected to a high-resolution touchscreen display. The 3D sections rely on an optimised real-time engine adapted for kiosk mode operation, ensuring secure, stable and uninterrupted performance throughout the event. It features automatic start-up, prevention of accidental exits and fast recovery in case of system interruptions. An integrated local content management structure enables easy updates of text, images, video files and language settings, while maintaining full offline functionality.
Analytics and user interaction insights
A built-in analytics module collects key interaction data, such as the number of user actions, time spent on specific modules, the most viewed content and the level of interest in particular 3D models. All collected data is stored locally in an anonymised form and is used to evaluate the effectiveness of the trade show presentation and to optimise future exhibitor strategies. These insights provide measurable feedback on visitor behaviour and content performance.
Impact of touchscreen applications on trade show performance
The use of a touchscreen application elevates the overall presentation quality and makes the booth more engaging and self-explanatory. Visitors naturally interact with the content, stay longer at the stand and absorb more information about the company’s products and technology. Compared to printed materials or linear video displays, an interactive environment offers significantly higher engagement and stronger brand recall. The application becomes the central information point within the exhibition space and serves as a scalable solution for future events, as modules can easily be updated, expanded or adapted.
