The Croatian National Bank (CNB), as the central bank of the Republic of Croatia, plays a key role in informing the public about monetary policy, financial system stability, and consumer rights and obligations in the context of financial services. To ensure more efficient communication with citizens and facilitate access to essential information, the CNB utilizes mobile technologies. One of these tools is the official mobile application, whose maintenance and improvement have been entrusted to our team.
Functional and technical improvement of the application
Our engagement involved a comprehensive review of the application’s existing functionalities. We conducted a thorough analysis of the content structure, with a particular focus on the organization of categories, allowing users to more easily find the information they need. Special attention was given to optimizing the user interface, resulting in improved clarity, faster navigation, and a more intuitive user flow. The redesign was not merely aesthetic—it was a strategic optimization of the end-user experience.
From a technical perspective, the application underwent a series of upgrades to ensure compliance with security standards and the operational requirements of the latest versions of iOS and Android systems. We also implemented performance optimizations to ensure stable operation across various types of mobile devices, with careful resource management and responsiveness.
Preparation for distribution and marketplace availability
A key component of the project was to ensure that the application was fully prepared for public distribution through the major mobile platforms—Apple App Store and Google Play. The preparation process included multiple steps such as compatibility testing, security permission audits, and adaptations to meet the rules and requirements of each marketplace. We ensured that the application behaves consistently across different environments and that it meets the technical and legal requirements of both platforms, which is essential for maintaining user trust and system integrity.
Stability, security, and usability as development pillars
In the development and refinement of the application, we focused on three fundamental principles: system stability, user data security, and ease of use. Stability means continuous, error-free performance, even under high load. Security was ensured through the implementation of data protection mechanisms, encrypted communication, and adherence to privacy guidelines. Usability was achieved through clearly structured application logic, user-centered design, and a responsive interface that ensures a consistent experience across smartphones and tablets.
Digital tools as an extension of regulatory functions
This application is not merely a technical product—it is a tool through which the central bank can effectively fulfil its regulatory, educational, and informational roles. By enabling citizens to quickly access accurate data on exchange rates, inflation, legal frameworks, and consumer rights, the application serves as a bridge between the regulatory authority and the everyday financial reality of the population. In doing so, the CNB not only increases the transparency of its operations but also promotes financial literacy and responsible market behavior.
Transferring experience to new digital projects
The experience gained in the refinement and optimization of this application is fully applicable to a wide range of institutional and commercial digital solutions. Well-defined processes, a methodological approach to development, and a focus on user needs allow us to tackle even more complex projects involving integration of multiple data sources, advanced security requirements, and precise control over information access. This approach reinforces the importance of expert digital product management, particularly in the financial and public sectors.
