In partnership with the Croatian Law Centre (HPC), Prolink participated in the development and release of a mobile application designed to provide information and support to asylum seekers—this project is the result of months of coordination between various expert teams, including legal advisors, IT professionals, and Centre representatives, representing an important step forward in ensuring functional, accessible, and transparent support for individuals in the extremely sensitive situation of seeking international protection. Every component of the application was developed in accordance with a detailed analysis of user needs, ensuring the final solution is not only technically effective but also socially relevant—project management was conducted with consistent adherence to the highest data management standards and security protocols, achieving a high level of professionalism in all implementation phases.
Technical infrastructure and data security
For project purposes, Prolink successfully implemented and configured the administrative system and connected the application with the corresponding programming interface (API), hosted on servers owned by the Croatian Law Centre—housing the infrastructure within their own network additionally ensures a high level of protection for personal and sensitive data collected and processed through the application. This guarantees stability, reliability, and compliance with applicable privacy and information system regulations, which is crucial when dealing with users in a legally and socially sensitive position—every piece of information they share through the application must be protected at the highest level, and Prolink ensured that technical solutions fully meet these requirements.
Digital accessibility of information and services
The mobile application was developed for Android and iOS operating systems and is available through official app stores—Google Play and Apple App Store, ensuring maximum accessibility given the widespread use of smartphones among users who often lack access to other information sources. The application is adapted for daily use, with its interface intuitively designed so asylum seekers can access content without obstacles even in stressful situations when quick and simple access to information is most needed—the provided information includes important contacts, explanations of rights and obligations, procedural instructions, and links to key institutions and organizations providing support in the international protection process.
Functionalities in service of human rights
The application is designed to be a functional tool for user orientation and navigation within the complex international protection system—it serves not exclusively as a passive source of information but as an active platform facilitating communication, timely information, and decision-making that can be extremely important for an individual's legal security and personal well-being. It further strengthens the Croatian Law Centre's capacity to communicate with users clearly, consistently, and in linguistically accessible ways, raising the level of institutional responsibility and effectiveness in providing support to those who need it most—simultaneously, the application enables the Centre to systematically monitor user needs and adapt its services in accordance with their actual requirements and challenges they face.
Development based on collaboration and expertise
The realization of this project is the result of intensive collaboration and coordination between Prolink's technical team and Croatian Law Centre experts, including legal advisors who work daily with asylum seekers and know their needs and challenges firsthand—every application functionality was developed in accordance with analysis of actual user needs, ensuring the solution is not only technically effective but also socially relevant and tailored to the specificities of the population it serves. Project management was conducted with adherence to the highest data management standards and security protocols, achieving a high level of professionalism in all implementation phases—from initial planning and design, through development and testing, to final release and production deployment.
Next development phases and long-term vision
The mobile application release represents only the initial phase in the further digitalization and modernization of the asylum seeker support system in the Republic of Croatia—continuous development of additional functionalities is planned, including multilingual support enabling access to information in more languages, integration with other platforms and databases of relevant institutions, and constant optimization based on feedback from real users who use the application daily. The focus remains on preserving service quality, increasing accessibility levels, and strengthening trust between institutions and users of the international protection system—trust built precisely through projects like this that demonstrate institutions' willingness to meet the needs of society's most vulnerable groups and provide them with support in a way that is modern, effective, and humane.
